Amy is the Director of Certification and Accreditation for The Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN®) where she is responsible for overseeing and maintaining BCEN’s six national nursing specialty certification programs (CEN, CFRN, CPEN, CTRN, TCRN and CBRN), including exam product lifecycles, exam forms development, and the item writing process. Her role includes supervising and recruiting BCEN’s more than 90 volunteer subject matter expert item writers and Exam Construction Review Committee members. Over 60,000 BCEN credentials are held by RNs and advanced practice nurses around the world, with over 40,000 nurses holding the Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN®), one of the nursing profession’s oldest and most widely held credentials. Amy is also serving as President- Elect for the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC) and will become President in 2025. She was first appointed to the ABSNC board in 2019. Prior to working with BCEN, Amy worked for Pearson VUE from 2004-2015, where she served as a Principal Content Developer for the NCLEX® nursing licensure exam from 2009-2015. Amy is a Certified Credentialing Professional® through the Institute for Credentialing Excellence. She earned her Master of Science in Medical-Surgical Nursing from the University of Michigan and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Michigan State University.
