Donald A. Balasa, JD, MBA, is currently the CEO and legal counsel of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). Balasa served as chair of the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) and as vice chair of the committee to update the Institute for Credentialing Excellence “ICE 1100:2019—Standard for Assessment-Based Certificate Programs,” which is an American National Standard. He is currently on the I.C.E. Accreditation Services Council. The AAMA has an NCCA-accredited certification and two (2) ABCs accredited under I.C.E. 1100. He has presented at previous I.C.E. Annual Exchanges and for the Certification Network Group on: (1) the Americans with Disabilities Act; (2) the current anti-regulatory environment in the United States; and (3) when it is economically optimal to create a microcredential.
