Kevin R. Keller, CAE, is Chief Executive Officer of CFP Board, the professional body for personal financial planners in the United States. CFP Board sets, administers and upholds standards for the prestigious CFP® certification, one of the most respected certifications in financial services and one of the few financial services designations accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
During Keller’s 17 years as CFP Board CEO, the number of CFP® professionals in the U.S. has grown 84% and stands at more than 100,000. Under Keller’s leadership, CFP Board overhauled the CFP® certification standards with a strengthened Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct requiring CFP® professionals to act in the best interest of the client when providing financial advice. CFP Board is pursuing ambitious strategic objectives, including developing a sustainable and diverse financial planner workforce, engaging the financial advice ecosystem to advance the financial planning profession and influencing policy for the benefit of the public.
Before joining CFP Board, Keller spent 16 years in leadership roles with the Association for Financial Professionals (AFP), including seven years as Senior VP and COO. Keller has a bachelor’s degree in agriculture and a master’s degree in agribusiness from The Ohio State University.
