John Weiner is an independent adviser on assessment strategies and initiatives. His career spans four decades in the assessment industry, three of them with PSI where he served as executive leader of the consulting, R&D, psychometrics, and content departments at various times. His focus has been on developing innovative, sound, and lawful solutions for government agencies, professional associations, regulators, and Fortune 500 companies. He has served as an expert witness and arbitrator in testing cases.
John co-authored a book on Online Recruitment and Selection, and book chapters on Licensure and Certification Testing and Systems for Global NextGen Assessment. He served as co-chair and editor of the recent ITC/ATP Guidelines for Technology-Based Assessment.
John has been active in professional associations such as ATP, ICE, SIOP, NCME, CLEAR and ITC. He served as the ATP Board Chair in 2020. He has made over 160 conference presentations on assessment issues and research related to fairness, validity, security, ethical use, and technology-fueled trends that are shaping assessment and learning. John holds a master’s in quantitative psychology and is a SIOP Fellow.
