Grady Barnhill has been involved in high-stakes testing for over 35 years, including 15 years with state licensing boards and later in director positions with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and the Commission on Dietetic Registration. In addition to testing and recertification program oversight, he has been involved in program development for several specialties. He retired in December, 2021, but continues to serve on the I.C.E. Public Member Committee. In November 2022 he began serving on the Assessment Advisory Group for the Nursing Community Assessment Service in British Columbia, and in January 2023, he began serving on the Board of Directors for the Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center (HPCC). He remains interested in advocating for evidence-based improvements in the measurement and enhancement of continuing competence, and in 2023 was involved in incorporating a new, non-profit organization, the International Society for the Advancement of Continuing Competence (ISACC).
